7.     Service:

- All players (except the server) must be within court boundaries upon service.  Referees are requested not to begin play until this occurs.

- The player serving must be behind the base line and be between the corner and inside marker.  A players foot on or over the base line upon service constitutes a foot fault and immediate loss of service.  Serve can be hit from anywhere along the baseline.

- The referee must see a clear space between the ball and the hand upon service.  Serving from the hand will be penalised by loss of service after a first warning is given.

- Carrying – the ball cannot be held, thrown, scooped or carried during play.  However in the interest of letting the game flow, the referee will use his/ her discretion when applying this rule.

- In play – until the ball hits the ground or foreign object such as the side or roof nets, it is considered alive and in play.

- Two hits – If, during play, the ball is not hit simultaneously by either fingers, hands or arms, it is ruled as two hits. (This means the same player has hit the ball consecutively)

- Back Court Spiking – This is permissible when the attacking players feet, upon take off are behind the attack line.  The attack line dissects the court approximately 2 metres each side of the centre net.

- Held ball – Any time that as a result of a block effected by both teams, the ball is touched simultaneously by opposition players for a period of time, the referee will rule held ball and the rally is to be replayed.

- Returning the ball – Anytime the rally is won or lost, the ball must be returned to the opposition along the ground.  Kicking or throwing the ball in a dangerous manner is prohibited- continued abuse of this rule will result in the player being sent from the court.

§                     2 points for a draw

§                     1 point for a loss

§                     3 points for a forfeit win

§                     0 points for a forfeit loss

- In the event of a drawn game during semis/finals 5 minutes extra each way will be played.  If the game is still tied after extra time the team that finished the season higher on the competition ladder will be deemed the winner.

11.                         Captains Role:

The team captain is responsible for ensuring the team is present and ready to play 5 minutes before the game commences, and that match fees have been fully paid.  He/she should also ensure that the players are marked off the team card each week for finals eligibility.
